Terms of Service
Last updated: October 31, 2026
In short: Kutumb Velo is a place for families to build their family trees, which we call Velos, together. Be truthful, respect your relatives’ privacy, only share what you have the right to share, and treat other members kindly.
1. Agreement
Kutumb Velo (kutumbvelo.com) is run by Rahivana (“Rahivana”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Kutumb Velo, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
2. Who can use Kutumb Velo
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian.
- One account per person. Give accurate information about yourself, keep your email account secure, and tell us right away if you think someone else has used your account.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
3. Velos and roles
- A Velo is a family tree on Kutumb Velo. The person who starts a Velo is its Owner. The Owner decides who joins and with what role: Co-owner, Contributor or Branch owner. Each role allows different changes, and members must stay within their role.
- We may set limits on the service, such as how many Velos one account can own.
- Before deleting their account, an Owner must hand each Velo to a Co-owner or delete it.
- Disagreements about a Velo’s content are for its members to resolve. We may step in where these Terms are broken, but we don’t decide family history.
4. Your content
- You keep ownership of what you add: names, dates, stories, notes and photos (“your content”).
- You give Rahivana permission to store, copy, display and process your content only as needed to run, protect and improve Kutumb Velo, including showing it to the members of your Velos and to others according to the settings you and Velo owners choose. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for copies in backups, which expire, and content that other members have already copied or built on.
- You promise you have the right to share what you add, and that it doesn’t break anyone else’s rights or any law.
5. Respecting your relatives’ privacy
- Add information about living people only if it’s accurate and you believe they would be comfortable with it being in the Velo. Don’t add private details (such as health, finances or contact information) about living people without their consent.
- If someone asks you to remove or correct information about them or their child, please do. They can also ask us directly, and we may remove it.
- Only invite or send connection requests to people you know or believe are family.
6. What’s not allowed
- Breaking the law, or helping others to.
- Harassing, threatening, impersonating or deceiving anyone.
- Adding false information to harm or embarrass someone.
- Collecting information about other users for marketing or any purpose they haven’t agreed to, including by automated means (scraping).
- Spam, including repeated or unwanted invitations and connection requests.
- Trying to get into accounts or Velos you don’t have access to, or interfering with how the service works.
- Uploading malware or anything that infringes someone else’s copyright or other rights.
7. The service
- Kutumb Velo is currently free. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you before anything you already use starts to cost money.
- We may change, add or remove features, and we will try to give notice of significant changes.
- Family-history information can be wrong or incomplete, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using Kutumb Velo at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or put other people at risk. Where it’s reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem first.
9. Disclaimers
Kutumb Velo is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, Rahivana makes no promises about the service beyond those in these Terms, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that the information in Velos is accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Rahivana is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Kutumb Velo. Our total responsibility for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
11. Your responsibility to us
If someone brings a claim against Rahivana because of your content or because you broke these Terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, as far as the law allows.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For important changes, we will tell you by email or with a notice on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use Kutumb Velo after that means you accept the updated Terms.
